“Promoting
participation in and support for cross-country and track and field in Arkansas
secondary schools.”
We are fans of cross-country and track and field that strive to promote
greater participation in a healthful and exciting sport in which virtually any
young person can participate and take with them for a lifetime. While
competition has its place, our focus is on encouraging greater participation and
building fan support. Our founders were high school and college distance runners
who have retained a love of the sport over the decades. This website exists to
report meet results, best performances and other race and meet statistics for
Arkansas secondary school athletes in an effort to promote the sports,
encourage wider participation and build fan interest. Increased participation
will help to improve performances which will in turn stir interest and
participation.

1965-66. After being discovered by a gym coach as a junior, he placed 5th

following spring, John set the school record in the Mile at 4:27.1 and finished
4th in his only State Track Meet. After high school he attended Louisiana Tech
where he was an immediate contributor to the Bulldogs in cross-country and
track in the Gulf States Conference, competing against current University of
Arkansas Head Track Coach John McDonnell regularly. In the fall of 1968 John
transferred to State College of Arkansas (now University of Central Arkansas)
where he competed for the Bears his senior year winning the Arkansas
Intercollegiate Conference Cross-Country Meet and the Arkansas AAU Marathon
in 1969. Before his running career ended in the spring of 1970 due to
injury he posted a 1:55 in the 880, 4:14 in the Mile and 9:11 in the 2
Mile. John is a mathematician/statistician and works in the information
