Arkansas Outdoor Track and Field Recap Week 1

March 31, 2003

 

March brought unseasonably warm weather to most of the state although brisk temperatures and blustery winds at the end of the week slowed times a little. Highlights of the week:

Wallace Spearmon (Fayetteville) paced his team to victory in their home meet on 3/28 by taking High Point honors (32.5) in winning the 200m in 21.75, the long jump at 22' 9.75" and the triple jump at 41' 3". He added a leg on the Purple Dogs winning 4x100m relay. Spearmon edged out Graham Patterson (Rogers) who tallied 31.5 points in six events.

Lady Purple Dog Sydney Scarborough (Fayetteville) led her team to a close 119-109 win over Russellville by scoring 42.5 points. Scarborough won the high jump at 5'6", the triple jump, the 100m (12.27)  and the 200m while posting a leg on the winning 4x100m relay

Paige Farrell (Springdale) won the Girls 400m easily in 57. 59. Farrell posted a 2:20.31 for 800m at the UALR Open on 3/22.
